To change your IP address, you need to know the difference between dynamic and
static IP addresses. If you are a dial up user, disconnect and reconnect to
internet. This will change your IP address.
If you are a broadband user (DSL, Cable) then you may or not have dynamic
addresses assigned by your ISP. So, to check this, turn off your dsl or cable
modem and turn it on again. If your IP adress is the same and you may assume
that your ISP assigns you static IP address. If this is the case, you may want
to contact to your ISP and request to change it.
You can change your home networks IP address. To do this in Windows XP:
1) Go to System ->Control Panel -> Network Connections
2) Right click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties"
3) In properties window, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click
"Properties"
4) Click on the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and write the IP address
that you want to set.
